Mirza Fakhrul asks party members not to be mislead by his reported speech

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday called upon the party activists not to be misled by his “misinterpreted remarks” over harassment cases.

In a clarification issued by BNP, Alamgir said during his electioneering at a union in his constituency, he said, “We don’t believe in politics of vengeance, and we do not want to file cases for harassment like that of Awami League.”

“In my statement there I also said if any harassment case is lodged against anyone in this union, we will withdraw them,” the BNP secretary general said.

But, he said, he did not make any statement regarding the filing or withdrawal of harassing cases across the country.

He urged the people of the country and BNP activists at all levels not to be confused by any incorrect statement published in the media.
