Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested 43 more leaders and activists of Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organisations from different parts of the capital city for their suspected link to creating anarchy and bringing out sudden processions.
Deputy Commissioner of DB of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests.
DB officials said the arrests were made from different areas of Dhaka on charges of involvement in subversive and anti-state activities aimed at disrupting law and order in the last 24 hours.
The drives were conducted based on specific intelligence information, and further drives are underway to apprehend others linked to the banned political organisation and its front bodies.
Law enforcement agencies have tightened surveillance in different parts of the city to prevent any unrest and to ensure public safety.
However, in two separate raids, one person was arrested with two crude bombs from the capital's Mirpur-14 area, and a teen suspect was apprehended from Dhanmondi-32 area today.
