Police recovered four bomb-like objects from Terokhada Upazila in Khulna on Thursday.

Besides, a minor explosion occurred in front of a house at Madhupara village under the same Upazila.

According to police and local sources, three red plastic containers wrapped in polythene were first spotted in front of the house of Abdur Rouf Fakir in the Natun Bus Stand area of Terokhada Sadar Union around 6.15 am by a local resident named Walid, who was on his way to coaching.

Suspecting them to be explosives, he immediately informed police. A team from Terokhada Police Station rushed to the spot and recovered the three cocktail-like devices.

Later, another red container was found under a taro plant beside the bypass road by a passer-by woman. Police later recovered the object from the scene. On the same day, several leaflets titled “Dhaka Lockdown” were also found pasted in the Natun Bus Stand area by unidentified persons.

Meanwhile, on Thursday night, three separate explosions occurred near the entrance of the house of Union Parishad member Bellal Mollah at Parhajigram Katashia Bazar in Madhupara Union.

Hearing the first blast, neighbours rushed outside and saw several unidentified individuals fleeing the scene. Two more loud explosions followed shortly afterward.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Terokhada Police Station Mehedi Hasan said a total of four cocktail-like objects were recovered in an abandoned condition.

“The recovered items are being soaked in water for examination. Investigation is underway to determine the source and motive behind the incidents,” the OC added.
