Finance Ministry warns against AI-generated video misusing finance adviser's identity

The Ministry of Finance has issued an urgent public advisory regarding a fraudulent video circulating on social media, particularly Facebook.

The Ministry confirmed that an unauthorised group is promoting this fake video or news content for advertising or promotional purposes.

The misleading material uses the image and video of Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed.

The Ministry strongly emphasised that the statements and information presented in the video have no connection with, nor endorsement from, the Ministry of Finance or the Finance Adviser.

Preliminary analysis indicates that Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology was used to generate the video, including the Finance Adviser’s voice and image.

This type of deceptive content is causing public misunderstanding and damaging the social and official reputation of the Finance Adviser.

In response, the Ministry of Finance has taken measures to secure the removal of the video and initiate legal proceedings.

The public is urged not to be misled by this or similar fake videos and news, and to avoid engaging with them entirely.

Furthermore, citizens are advised not to conduct any financial transactions without first verifying and confirming the information.
