A seminar titled "Ethics in the Language of Protest: Maulana Bhashani and Contemporary Bangladesh" was held on Sunday at Maulana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) in Tangail.
The seminar was held in the conference room of the university's academic building, commemorating the 49th death anniversary of the veteran mass leader Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani.
Professor Dr Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan, honorary member of Bangladesh University Grants Commission, attended the seminar as the chief guest.
Renowned photographer, writer, Ekushey Padak recipient, and founder of Photogeum, Nasir Ali Mamun, participated as the special guest.
The keynote paper, authored by Maulana Bhashani researcher Syed Irfanul Bari, was presented on his behalf by his daughter Syeda Ustuana Hannana. Professor Dr Md Fazlul Karim, convener of the seminar sub-committee, delivered the welcome speech.
The university's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Md Anwarul Azim Akhand, presided over the seminar.
Professor Dr Md Abu Zubair, Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences, and Professor Dr Md Nazmus Sadekin, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, spoke at the seminar, among others.
Teachers, students, officers, and staff from various departments of the university attended the event, reflecting on Maulana Bhashani's lifelong struggle for justice and the relevance of his philosophy in contemporary Bangladesh.
