Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmad Khan on Sunday said the role of youth during any crisis has made the nation hopeful time and again.
The DU VC said this while inaugurating the Festival of Youth-2026 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium here.
Pro-vice chancellors (Admin) Professor Dr Sayema Huq Bidisha, Pro-vice chancellor (Education) Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed, treasurer Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) vice-president M Abu Sadique and senior vice president of Management FBS Club Ltd. Mohammad Rezaul Billah attended the function as the special guests.
Convener of the Festival of Youth-2026 Professor Dr Mohammad Jashim Uddin presided over the function.
Dhaka University and Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) jointly organised the function.
The function began with the recitation of the holy Quran.
DU VC said the youth is one of the key forces of national development, adding that the function is being held to recognise the contribution of the youth.
Expressing concern over the emerging possible division among the youth, the DU VC said this situation is not favourable for national development.
After the inauguration of the festival, a rally started from the Senate Bhaban and ended at the main premises of the university.
The attending guests inaugurated the tree plantation programme at the main premises of the university. Later, an attractive cultural programme was held.
