The adviser to the ministries of Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs, Sharmeen S Murshid, stated on Tuesday that the establishment of the July Martyrs’ Memorial Foundation building will serve to safeguard the legacy and contributions of the July mass uprising, ensuring that the July fighters endure in perpetuity.
During the student-led uprising in July, both male and female fighters are granted the opportunity to visit the July Martyrs’ Memorial Foundation, where they will receive comprehensive assistance, as stated in an official release.
The adviser articulated his observations during the ceremony for the transfer of government-allocated land to the ‘July Martyrs’ Memorial Foundation’ in the Bijoynagar area of the city, where he served as the chief guest.
In reply to an inquiry from the press, the Adviser remarked that the nation will hold them in esteem for their sacrifices and contributions in the struggle against entrenched fascism.
She asserted that it is imperative for all individuals to dedicate themselves to the pursuit of establishing a nation devoid of fascism.
She further asserted that those who ascend to power following the election ought to align themselves with the July fighters and assist them in realising their long-held aspirations.
She remarked that a structure for the July Foundation will be erected on the designated land, and from this day forward, this land will provide the Foundation with a solid foundation and enduring stability.
Present at the function were Md Nazrul Islam, Secretary to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works; A S M Saleh Ahmed, Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Land; Tanvir Ahmed, former Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka; Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd.) Kamal Akbar, Chief Executive Officer of the July Martyrs’ Memorial Foundation; along with other relevant officials.
