During Friday’s earthquake, which shook the nation, bricks fell from a structure, killing three pedestrians in the city’s Bangshal neighbourhood.

Bricks fell from the roof railing of a seven-storey building belonging to the late Saki Miah on KP Ghosh Street, under the jurisdiction of Bangshal police station, injuring three pedestrians, according to Deputy Commissioner Mallik Ahsan Uddin Sami of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Lalbagh).

He added that three of them died at Mitford Hospital after being taken there.

According to Mallik, the body could not be recognised right away.

The Bangladesh Metrological Department (BMD) said that at 10:38 am on Friday, an earthquake hit the nation’s capital and neighbouring cities.

An eight-storey structure fell at Kasaituli in Armanitola, according to the fire department’s initial report. It was attended by two fire units from the Sadarghat and Siddiqbazar stations. The structure was deemed unharmed. A few bricks and stray pieces of plaster tumbled to the floor. Firefighters who responded to the scene did not discover any victims.

A two-storey structure in Khilgaon was struck by a falling block, injuring one person. The building was under construction. The individual was rescued by members of the society.

Someone in the Baridhara Block-F, Road-5 area reported a house fire. Two fire engines from the Baridhara fire station were putting out the blaze. According to the article, the cause of the fire is still unknown.

Reportedly, an 8-storey building in Sutrapur Swamibagh leant on another building. Firefighters from Sutrapur responded to the scene.

Damage to a building at the Chief Adviser’s Office has been reported. No damage was reported after the inspection by Satellite Fire Station.

On Abedkhali Road in Kalabagan, a 7-storey building reportedly fell. The Mohammadpur Fire Station sent one unit racing to the scene. So yet, there have been no casualties.

Gazaria, Munshiganj, was the scene of a house fire. Preliminary reports indicated that two units from the Gazaria Fire Station responded quickly.
