Dr Asif Nazrul, an expatriate welfare and overseas employment adviser, stated on Friday that the last 24 Bangladeshis who were imprisoned at different times for taking part in the July rebellion in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be freed shortly.

"Alhamdulillah. Our efforts under the guidance of the Honourable Chief Adviser have finally yielded results. "The remaining 24 people who were imprisoned at various times for participating in the July uprising in the United Arab Emirates will be released soon," he stated in a post shared on Friday on his verified Facebook page.

He complimented authorities from the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Bangladesh Embassy in the UAE.
Previously, all 188 Bangladeshis imprisoned in the UAE were released in September last year on the direct request of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.
