Security has been significantly increased at Dhaka's Evercare Hospital, where BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is being treated.
Police set up a barricade at the hospital's main gate early Tuesday, and more than two dozen officers were dispatched to manage crowds and ensure her safety.
The cabins on her fourth-floor unit have been vacated for security reasons.
Khaleda Zia, 80, has been treated in the critical care unit since being admitted on November 23 with heart and lung infections.
Her condition is being monitored by a medical board made up of both local and foreign specialists.
