Md Touhid Hossain, Foreign Affairs Adviser, said on Tuesday that if Khaleda Zia's family or party formally decides to send her abroad for treatment, the government will take the necessary steps.
"If they decide, the government will take the necessary measures," he said in response to questions from reporters at the Foreign Ministry in Dhaka".
He added that any decision regarding Khaleda Zia's medical treatment abroad would be up to her family or party.
The adviser also stated that the interim government has not yet received any formal communication regarding the possible return of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to Dhaka.
Meanwhile, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, personal physician to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and a member of the BNP Standing Committee, stated that Khaleda Zia is responding to the treatment provided by her medical team.
"Begum Khaleda Zia has been receiving treatment in Evercare Hospital's CCU since November 27 and is responding to the doctors' care," Dr Zahid said at a press briefing outside the hospital around 12:30 pm on Tuesday.
