Education Adviser Professor Dr CR Abrar said on Saturday that the sacrifice of the 11 scouts who chose martyrdom during the July Movement continues to inspire the nation's efforts to build a new Bangladesh.

He made the remarks while speaking at a national award ceremony hosted by Bangladesh Scouts at their headquarters in the capital.

The adviser paid tribute to the martyred and injured scouts of the July Movement, saying their sacrifice strengthened the nation's resolve to build a new Bangladesh and will serve as an inspiration for all time.

Md Ehsanul Hoque, Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, was a special guest at the event, which was presided over by Nasimul Ghani, Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Home Affairs and President of Bangladesh Scouts.

Shapla Cub Awards, President Scout Awards, and President's Rover Scout Awards were given to scouts across the country.

Dr Abrar stated that scouting is more than just earning badges; it is also comprehensive training in character development, human values, leadership, responsibility, and community service.

He emphasised that scouts are consistently on the front lines during cyclones, floods, fires, and other disasters, and he advocated for increased scouting activities to help create self-sufficient and service-orientated citizens.

Highlighting Bangladesh's global achievements, he stated that the country is now ranked fourth out of 176 scout nations and has demonstrated strong leadership in various Asia-Pacific committees.

He also praised the significant increase in female participation in scouting.

Dr Abrar told the award recipients, "You are the nation's future leaders. With honesty, courage, resilience and humanity, you must grow into exemplary citizens – this is the expectation of the country.”
