Syeda Rizwana Hasan, the Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser, stated on Saturday that the young generation's leadership in wildlife protection is now undeniable.
She stated that the growing interest among young people in rescuing, caring for, and returning wildlife to nature is a positive sign for Bangladesh.
According to Rizwana, public awareness of wildlife safety and conservation has increased significantly over time.
Addressing the youth, the environment adviser stated that a united voice is critical in protecting wildlife.
Those who attempt to destroy wildlife habitats frequently seek public support by citing economic reasons, she said.
"To counter them, awareness, love for nature, and the dissemination of accurate information must be strengthened," she said while speaking as the chief guest at a meeting of volunteers and organisations involved in wildlife, forest, and biodiversity conservation at the Forest Bhaban in Agargaon, Dhaka.
Rizwana stated that people must uphold ethical values that ensure the coexistence of humans and nature.
"Our religious and social values instill compassion, protection, and responsibility towards all living things." Standing beside vulnerable people and animals is the most authentic expression of humanity," she added.
The adviser announced at the event that 64 wildlife conservation workers, one from each district, would be officially recognised next year.
This initiative, she said, will inspire the next generation and foster local leadership in wildlife conservation.
She also informed us that the government had approved the creation of a new unit to combat wildlife crime.
Rizwana also stated that initiatives are underway to ensure modern equipment and transportation facilities for wildlife rescue operations.
Md. Amir Hosain Chowdhury, Chief Conservator of Forests, chaired the event.
Guests included Dr Md Sagir Ahmed, Director General of the National Institute of Biotechnology; Dr Mohammad Ali Reza Khan, biodiversity expert; Dr Md Jalal Uddin Sardar, founding Dean of Rajshahi University's Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences; and Dr Mollah Rezaul Karim, founder and chief adviser of BBCF.
Several individuals, including Dr Mohammad Ali Reza Khan, and organisations were recognised for their outstanding contributions to environmental and biodiversity conservation.
Earlier in the day, Adviser Rizwana Hasan served as the chief guest at the Bangladesh Energy Conference 2025, which began at the Bangladesh Military Museum.
She emphasised effective rooftop solar installation in government buildings, environmentally conscious development plans, and transparent decision-making through stakeholder consultation.
