CA distributes Begum Rokeya Padak 2025 among four winners

On Tuesday, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus presented the Begum Rokeya Padak 2025 to four distinguished women in recognition of their contributions to women's education and rights, human rights, and women's awakening.

Dr Rubhana Rakib, a physician, received the award in the category of women's education (research), while Kalpana Akter, a labour leader, received it in the category of women's rights.

Dr Nabila Idris, a rights activist, received the prestigious award in the category of human rights, while Ritu Porna Chakma, a member of Bangladesh Women's National Football Team, won in the category of women's awakening (sports).

On Tuesday morning, the Chief Adviser presented the awards to the recipients at a gala event held at Dhaka's Osmani Memorial Auditorium.

The Begum Rokeya Day 2025 function was organised by the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs to commemorate Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain's 145th birth anniversary and 93rd death anniversary, respectively.

Sharmeen S Murshid, Women and Children Affairs Adviser, presided over the event, which was attended by other interim government advisers, distinguished personalities, and awardees' family members and relatives. Mamtaz Ahmed, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, delivered the welcome address at the event.

To commemorate Begum Rokeya's contributions to promoting women's education and combating child marriage, a cultural programme was held, including the screening of the documentary Ami-e Rokeya.

The event also highlighted Begum Rokeya's role in inspiring women and the advancement of women's empowerment in the country. It emphasised education as the key to establishing women’s rights.
