A complaint has been made to the Paltan Police Station regarding the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi, a spokesperson for Inqilab Mancha and a prospective candidate for the Dhaka-8 seat.

A relative of Hadi filed the case as the plaintiff on Sunday night, according to Paltan Police Station Duty Officer Sub-Inspector (SI) Nuruzzaman, who confirmed the information on Monday.

Inspector (Operations) Yasin Mia has been tasked with looking into the matter, he added.

Police say the incident happened on Friday afternoon, one day after the 13th National Parliament election schedule was announced.

Sharif Osman Hadi was shot by two attackers from a moving motorbike on Box Culvert Road in the Paltan neighbourhood of the city before they left the scene. He was shot in the head.

Alamgir Hossain and Faisal Karim Masud have been identified by police as the two people involved in the shooting.

In relation to the shooting of Osman Hadi, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested three individuals, including Samia, the wife of prime suspect Faisal Karim Masud.

Faisal Karim Masud's brother-in-law Shipu and his friend Monika are among the other people in custody.

According to Wing Commander MZM Enthekhab Chowdhury, director of RAB's legal and media wing, they were taken into custody during separate raids that were carried out in Dhaka and Narayanganj during the previous 24 hours.

Before and after the shooting, Faisal kept in touch with all three of them, according to RAB.

According to Enthekhab Chowdhury, Faisal and his wife stayed in Narayanganj the night before the incident and departed for Dhaka at first light. Later on, he visited his friend Monika's home.

Additionally, the RAB arrested Abdul Hannan, the owner of the motorbike used in the shooting, who lived in the capital's Mohammadpur neighbourhood. Later, on Sunday, he was put on a three-day remand.

At the moment, Sharif Osman Hadi is being treated at the capital's Evercare Hospital.

The Interim Government has chosen to send him to Singapore for cutting-edge medical care in the interim.
