A 14-member delegation of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), led by Vice President Sadik Qayem, on Monday met Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury at his ministry office and urged swift action over the recent attack on Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Osman Hadi.

The students presented a set of three demands, including the immediate arrest of those responsible for the attack on Osman Hadi, as well as the planners and their accomplices.

The delegation also called for area-wise law enforcement combing operations against the banned Awami League and demanded that the death penalty be carried out against deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after her return to Bangladesh.

Responding to the delegation, Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said the government will “execute every logical demand” and that the rational demands of the students must be fulfilled.

Osman Hadi was critically wounded when assailants shot him in the head in Paltan on Friday.

Hadi, a prospective candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, left on Monday for Singapore for advanced medical treatment.

An air ambulance carrying Hadi departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 01:55 pm, HSIA Executive Director S M Ragib Samad confirmed.

The interim government had earlier announced a Tk 50 lakh reward for information leading to the arrest of Hadi’s attackers, as part of efforts to bring those responsible to justice.
