Hadi was shot in the Paltan area of Dhaka on Friday (December 12), and his injuries were life-threatening.
At first, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Then, he was moved to Evercare Hospital, where he stayed in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Due to his worsening state, a decision was made on Sunday (14 December) to send him overseas for better treatment. The choice was made during a last-minute conference call with members of Hadi’s family, Culture Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, Evercare Hospital specialist Dr Jafar, and Professor Dr Md Sayedur Rahman, who is the Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant for Health Affairs.
On Monday, Hadi was taken to Singapore in an air ambulance. He was taken to Singapore General Hospital within an hour of arriving. However, despite the efforts of the medical professionals, he passed away at a later time.
Hadi’s shooting caused a lot of worry and political reaction in Bangladesh. Authorities said that the attack was a serious challenge to law and order during the election time.
