Hadi is no more, govt announces state mourning on Saturday: CA

Sharif Osman Hadi, the fearless frontline soldier of the July Uprising and Inqilab Mancha spokesperson, died on Thursday night while receiving medical treatment in a Singapore hospital after struggling for his life for the last six days.

“Today, I came before you with heartbreaking news.”  Sharif Osman Hadi, the heroic frontline combatant of the July Uprising and spokesperson for the Inqilab Mancha, is no longer with us.

Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Singapore’s Foreign Minister, informed me of the situation over the phone a few minutes ago,” he remarked during his address to the nation on Thursday night.

“May Almighty Allah accept this immortal soldier in the fight against fascism and hegemony as a martyr.”  “We all pray together,” said the Chief Adviser.

State-owned Bangladesh Television (BTV) and BTV News simultaneously televised the speech at 11:30 pm.

Hadi, an ambitious independent candidate for Dhaka 8, was shot on December 12 while riding a battery-powered autorickshaw in the Paltan neighbourhood.
