A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the body of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi flew from Singapore to Dhaka on Friday, as the country prepares to receive the slain youth leader amid widespread mourning.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Flight BG 585 took off from Singapore Changi International Airport at 4:03pm local time (2:03pm Dhaka time) for Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) with Sharif Osman Hadi's body on board and was scheduled to land at 5:50pm.

"Our Flight BG 585 took off from Singapore at 2:03pm (Dhaka time) and is expected to land in Dhaka at around 5:50pm carrying Sharif Osman Hadi's body," Biman's Managing Director and CEO, Dr Shafiqur Rahman, said on Friday afternoon.

He stated that Biman had taken all necessary steps to ensure the smooth and dignified repatriation of the martyred leader's remains.

Sharif Osman Hadi died while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital, causing widespread grief among political leaders, Inqilab Mancha activists, and the general public.

In a Facebook post, Inqilab Mancha claimed that Allah had accepted the great revolutionary Osman Hadi as a martyr in the fight against Indian hegemony.

The organisation also announced that a janaza will be held in Bangladesh on Saturday following Zuhr prayers at Manik Mia Avenue.

Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser, has declared a one-day state of mourning on Saturday following the tragic death of Sharif Osman Hadi.

Hadi suffered a critical head injury after being shot by assailants on December 12 while campaigning in Purana Paltan, the capital.

After receiving initial treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Evercare Hospital, he was airlifted to Singapore by air ambulance on December 15 for advanced medical treatment, where he later died from his injuries.
