Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Monday instructed the law enforcement agencies to take prompt measures in capturing the perpetrators who shot and injured a leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP) in Khulna.
“I have talked to the commissioner of KMP (Khulna Metropolitan Police) immediately after the incident,” he said.
The Home Adviser made the remarks on Monday while briefing reporters after the 18th meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Law and Order and security preparations for the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JnUCSU) polls.
Unknown miscreants opened fire, targeting the head of Mohammad Motaleb Sikder, 42, NCP’s Khulna divisional chief and a central organiser of NCP Sramik Shakti, around 11:45am near Gazi Medical College Hospital in Khulna city, police sources said.
He was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
Quoting doctors, the police said that Motaleb is now out of danger.
