Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep condolences to the President of the Swiss Confederation, Guy Parmelin, following the loss of lives in a fire incident at a ski resort in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.
In a condolence message sent on Friday, Professor Yunus said he was deeply saddened by the tragedy, which resulted in the deaths of several people. The message was released by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon.
“I am deeply saddened to learn about the tragic fire incident at a ski resort in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, that caused the loss of many invaluable lives,” he said.
Expressing sympathy on behalf of Bangladesh, Professor Yunus said the government and people of the country stood in solidarity with Switzerland during the period of mourning. He conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and to the Swiss people.
“With a deep sense of grief, I, on behalf of the Government and the people of Bangladesh, express the deepest condolence and heartfelt sympathy to Your Excellency and, through you, to the bereaved family members of the victims as well as to all the people of the Swiss Confederation at this mourning moment,” the message said.
Professor Yunus added that Bangladesh’s thoughts and prayers were with the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in the incident. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the fire.
“May the Almighty bestow His mercy on the departed souls of the deceased and grant their family members the courage and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he said, while extending assurances of his highest consideration to the Swiss president.
