EC calls for collective commitment to holding fair election

Election Commissioner (EC) Brig Gen (retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah on Monday said from now on, everyone must be committed to conducting the next parliamentary election, scheduled to be held on 12 February, in a fair manner.

“The elections should not be disrupted under any circumstances. Our responsibility is to perform our duties honestly and impartially. Our work will be transparent. Everyone will work according to the law,” he said at a view-exchange meeting organised by the Bandarban District Police on the occasion of the 13th National Parliament Election on the Bandarban Police Lines premises.

Addressing the officials, the EC said, “Everyone must perform their duties with transparency, impartiality and firmness. Do not take sides. At present, the most important thing is to work firmly.”

Bandarban Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shamim Ara Rini, Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Abdur Rahman, Additional SPs Md Farhad Sardar and Jinia Chakma, and District Election Officer Md Kamrul Alam, among others, were also present at the event.

EC Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah arrived in Bandarban on a one-day visit.

During the visit, he exchanged views with police officers and members and later attended a meeting of the Vigilance and Observation Team and Law Enforcement Cell at the DC office and gave important instructions.
