The government has released a new photo card calling on citizens to vote ‘Yes’ in the upcoming referendum as part of a wider campaign aimed at increasing public awareness and participation.

The photocard was issued on Monday by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing ahead of the referendum scheduled for 12 February. It carries a message urging voters to support the proposal, stating that a ‘Yes’ vote would “permanently close the path for the return of fascism”.

This follows the release of another photo card on Sunday, which encouraged people to vote in favour of the referendum to help build what it described as a “dreamt Bangladesh”.

According to the Press Wing, a total of eight photo cards will be released sequentially between 11 and 18 January as part of the public information campaign surrounding the referendum.

Officials said the initiative is intended to raise awareness about the referendum and encourage citizens to take part actively in the voting process.

Alongside the digital campaign, the government is also rolling out nationwide programmes to promote understanding of the referendum at the grassroots level.

As part of these efforts, field-level government officials, religious leaders and representatives from non-governmental organisations are being trained to help disseminate information and foster public engagement across communities.

The referendum is expected to be a key political event, with authorities placing emphasis on voter participation and public outreach in the lead-up to polling day.
