Bangladesh’s Election Commission (EC) has announced a revised election schedule for the Pabna-1 and Pabna-2 parliamentary constituencies ahead of the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections, following an order from the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.
The updated timetable was published through a gazette notification issued late Thursday night and signed by Election Commission Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.
According to the notification, the revised programme replaces the relevant sections of an earlier gazette published on 11 December 2025. The changes were made in compliance with a Supreme Court Appellate Division directive issued on 15 January 2026 in connection with Civil Petition for Leave to Appeal No. 190 of 2026.
Under the new schedule, candidates will have until 18 January to submit their nomination papers to the returning or assistant returning officers. Scrutiny of nomination documents will take place on 19 January.
Candidates dissatisfied with the scrutiny decisions will be able to file appeals between 20 and 24 January, with all appeals set to be resolved by 25 January.
The deadline for withdrawal of candidature has been fixed for 26 January, while the allocation of election symbols will be completed on 27 January.
The Election Commission confirmed that polling in both Pabna constituencies will be held on 12 February 2026, with voting scheduled from 7:30am to 4:30pm without any breaks.
Voting will be conducted using traditional ballot papers, and voters will cast their ballots in transparent ballot boxes, the EC said.
Officials stated that the revised election programme has been announced under the provisions of the Representation of the People Order, 1972, ensuring compliance with the Supreme Court’s ruling.
The Election Commission reiterated its commitment to conducting the polls in a free, fair, and lawful manner in line with constitutional and legal requirements.
