Bangladesh’s Election Commission is set to hold a discussion meeting with all registered political parties on Tuesday afternoon as preparations continue for the country’s 13th Jatiya Sangsad election and the planned referendum in 2026.

The meeting, scheduled for 4:00 pm at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon, will focus primarily on the “Postal Vote BD” mobile application, including its operational framework and related issues. The platform is intended to facilitate voting by eligible citizens who are unable to cast ballots in person.

According to the Commission, representatives from all 63 registered political parties have been invited to take part in the discussions. The meeting will be chaired by Chief Election Commissioner M M Nasir Uddin and attended by the election commissioners, the senior secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat and other senior officials.

Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, Swedish Ambassador Nicolas Weeks is due to pay a courtesy call on the chief election commissioner at the same venue. The Commission said the meeting, scheduled for 3:00 pm, is expected to include an exchange of views on a range of issues related to the upcoming national election.

Meanwhile, activities related to the withdrawal of nomination papers have been continuing throughout the day at the Election Training Institute building in Dhaka. The Election Commission said it will publish the total number of withdrawn nomination papers after 5:00 pm on Tuesday.

The latest engagements come as the Commission moves to finalise key administrative and technical preparations ahead of the national polls, amid heightened political attention on the electoral process.
