Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain on Tuesday said government officials must demonstrate neutrality through their actions, not merely through words, ahead of the upcoming national parliamentary election.

Speaking at a views-exchange meeting with district-level officials in the conference room of Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office, the Foreign Adviser underscored the importance of impartial conduct in the run-up to the 2026 national parliamentary election and referendum slated for 12 February.

"Even if there is no consensus on all issues, people will stand in favour of 'Yes' in the referendum for the necessary reforms of the state," he said.

The adviser noted that a large number of foreign observers will be present to help ensure transparency, acceptability, and neutrality in the upcoming national parliamentary election.

The meeting was chaired by Patuakhali DC Shahid Hossain Chowdhury.

Superintendent of District Police Md Abul Yusuf and election-related officials from various departments were also present there.
