Bangladesh and the United States (US) have expanded military medical cooperation as senior US Army medical leadership engaged with Bangladesh Army Medical Forces to strengthen partnerships and build future collaborative capacity.
Major General E Darrin Cox, commanding general of the 18th Theater Medical Command, US Army Pacific, visited Bangladesh from 18 to 22 January to enhance medical cooperation with the Bangladesh Army Medical Forces, the US embassy in Dhaka said on Thursday.
“The engagement supported the objectives of the US Indo-Pacific Command and US Army Pacific to deepen collaboration and build partner capacity in military healthcare,” said the US embassy’s spokesperson Poornima Rai.
During his visit, she said Major General Cox held meetings in Dhaka and visited Jalalabad Cantonment and the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Sylhet.
She also said that the engagements helped lay the groundwork for future joint exercises and expert exchanges across key medical specialties.
“Major General Cox’s visit highlights the US’ ongoing commitment to strategic health cooperation with Bangladesh,” Rai added.
