Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus has conveyed a message on the occasion of International Customs Day-2026 to be observed worldwide tomorrow under the theme 'Customs: Protecting Society through Vigilance and Commitment'.

“I am pleased to know that, as in previous years, International Customs Day-2026 is being observed this year as well, in line with the theme set by the World Customs Organisation (WCO)," he said in a message on Sunday.

The Chief Adviser congratulated all officers and employees of Bangladesh Customs, as well as service recipients and stakeholders.

In addition to facilitating and simplifying international trade, customs authorities across the world play a crucial role in ensuring state and social security, safeguarding public health and environment and strengthening border cooperation, said Dr Yunus.

To facilitate international trade, the National Board of Revenue has undertaken initiatives to implement the Bangladesh Single Window (BSW) project, he said.

Moreover, the current interim government has launched various projects to modernise customs operations, including introduction of the Bond Automation System to simplify import and export procedures, he said.

The present interim government remains committed to establishing a transparent, efficient, accountable, and technology-driven administration, said Dr Yunus.

Through human resource development, effective use of information technology and prevention of illegal trade, smuggling, drug trafficking and money laundering, the customs administration continues to ensure national security and economic growth, he added.

In this regard, officials of Bangladesh Customs are working with professional competence, specialised knowledge, and a strong sense of responsibility to build a modern and reliable administrative system, he added.

The Chief Adviser wished every success of all programmes organised on the occasion of International Customs Day-2026.
