Election Commissioner Anwarul Islam Sarkar on Monday said the final results of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum are expected to be announced by 13 February, the day after voting.

Speaking to reporters at the Election Commission (EC) building, he explained that although the parliamentary election and the referendum will be conducted on the same day, the use of modern automation systems and multiple digital devices will allow for rapid data collection and processing.

“Even though some remote areas may experience minor delays due to transportation constraints, there is no reason to wait three days for the results,” Anwarul Islam said, emphasising that the commission is confident of timely publication.

The commissioner also highlighted the overall electoral environment, saying it is significantly more favourable and peaceful compared to previous elections.

He noted that public concerns regarding the voting process have largely been addressed, and the EC is fully prepared to conduct a credible and transparent election on 12 February.

Anwarul Islam assured that the EC has taken all necessary measures to ensure smooth voting, efficient collection of results, and transparency in announcing the outcome.

He said the combination of automated systems, trained personnel, and logistical arrangements will make it possible to deliver election results efficiently, giving the public confidence in the process.

“The EC is committed to ensuring that citizens’ votes are accurately counted and that the results are released as quickly as possible,” he added.
