Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Tuesday visited the Central Control Room at Police Headquarters (PHQ) to assess law enforcement preparedness ahead of Wednesday’s general elections and referendum-2026, according to a press release.

During the visit, he reviewed overall security arrangements, real-time monitoring systems, communication networks, and emergency response measures across the country. Officials briefed him on the control room’s operations and the steps taken to maintain law and order during the election period.

On the same day, the adviser also visited the New Market and Mohammadpur police stations in Dhaka to evaluate field-level readiness. He spoke with officers on duty, instructing them to remain vigilant, impartial, and professional while performing their election responsibilities.

Highlighting the importance of a free, fair, and peaceful election, he directed law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety and facilitate voters’ ability to cast their ballots without fear or disruption. Police officials confirmed that special security measures have been implemented and that the force is fully prepared to handle any untoward incidents.
