Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui has instructed the force to firmly resist any attempts at violence, sabotage or disruption during the 13th national parliament elections, reaffirming its commitment to a free, fair and impartial vote.

The DG issued the directives during visits to several BGB election base camps in Dhaka and surrounding areas, including Mugda Ideal School and College, Uttara Haji Camp, and Tongi in Gazipur.

Siddiqui reviewed the force’s operational readiness, assessed the security situation, and examined plans for preventing untoward incidents during the polls. He emphasised professionalism, impartiality, and dedication, warning that negligence in maintaining law and order would not be tolerated.

The BGB chief instructed personnel to strengthen patrols, establish check posts, and ensure voters can cast ballots safely and without fear. He also urged courteous and responsible conduct towards the public.

Expressing confidence in the force, Siddiqui said the BGB would safeguard lives and property while upholding the democratic process throughout the election period.
