The Election Commission (EC) has decided to withhold the results of three constituencies in the 13th national parliamentary election due to ongoing legal proceedings involving the winning candidates.

The affected seats are Sherpur-2, Chattogram-2 and Chattogram-4.

Senior assistant secretary of the EC Secretariat Md Shahidul Islam said the results were postponed due to legal complications surrounding the candidates concerned.

In separate notifications, the Commission said it was legally bound to suspend publication of the results until the relevant cases are finally resolved.

On 3 February 2026, the Supreme Court Appellate Division allowed Mohammad Aslam Chowdhury, a candidate from constituency 281 (Chattogram-4), to contest the election after disposing of a writ petition filed with the High Court Division. However, the court ordered that the election result for the seat remain suspended until the case reaches a final conclusion.

In a similar ruling, the Appellate Division allowed Sarwar Alamgir, a candidate from constituency 279 (Chattogram-2), to take part in the polls, while directing that the result be withheld pending disposal of the case.

The court also accepted a writ petition filed by Mohammad Fahim Chowdhury, a candidate from constituency 114 (Sherpur-2), permitting him to contest the election. The final result for the seat, however, will be announced only after the case is settled.
