The Election Commission (EC) has announced that 59.44 per cent of eligible voters cast their ballots in the 13th National Parliamentary Election held across 299 constituencies nationwide.

Director (Public Relations) and Information Officer of the EC Md Ruhul Amin Mallik disclosed the information on Friday.

Voting took place on Thursday, 12 February, from 7:30am to 4:30pm, continuing uninterrupted for nine hours. Election authorities reported that polling was conducted simultaneously in 299 constituencies, with necessary security and administrative measures in place to ensure orderly voting.

According to official data, Bangladesh has a total of 12,77,11,793 registered voters. However, 4,13,337 voters from the Sherpur-3 constituency were unable to participate in this election due to valid reasons cited by the commission. As a result, the effective number of eligible voters for the 299 constituencies stood at 12,72,98,456.

The turnout figure reflects participation across urban and rural areas, with election officials compiling data from polling centres nationwide. The commission is expected to release more detailed constituency-wise turnout statistics following further verification.

The 13th parliamentary election was held alongside a nationwide referendum, marking one of the largest electoral exercises in the country’s history.
