Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Saturday reached out to key political leaders, calling for collective efforts to fulfil the expectations of the people following the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

In separate telephone conversations with BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman and National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam, Prof Yunus emphasised the importance of cooperation among political parties to sustain democratic momentum in the country.

According to the Chief Adviser’s press wing, he first spoke with Tarique Rahman and congratulated the BNP on securing a decisive majority in the polls. He later extended congratulations and appreciation to Shafiqur Rahman and Nahid Islam for their respective parties’ roles in the election.

During the discussions, Prof Yunus thanked all three leaders for demonstrating restraint and political maturity throughout the electoral process. He noted that their responsible conduct and guidance to party activists had helped ensure a festive and peaceful atmosphere nationwide.
