Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman on Monday paid a courtesy call on Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the Chief Adviser’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka.

According to a statement from the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing, the meeting took place in the afternoon and involved an exchange of greetings, along with discussions on matters related to responsibilities during the tenure of the interim government.

While details of the conversation were not disclosed, officials said the discussions focused on institutional cooperation and the ongoing duties of the armed forces under the interim administration.

Professor Yunus expressed his appreciation to the Army Chief for the support extended by the Bangladesh Army during his time in office. He particularly acknowledged the role of the armed forces during the recent national parliamentary elections, where the military assisted civil authorities in maintaining stability and supporting logistical arrangements.

The Bangladesh Army has historically been deployed in support roles during major national events, including elections, natural disasters and emergency situations, operating under civilian oversight. Its involvement during the transitional period has been described by officials as part of broader efforts to ensure continuity and security during administrative changes.

The interim government, led by Professor Yunus, assumed office following political developments in August 2024 and has since overseen a period of institutional reform and political transition. Meetings between senior civil and military officials are viewed as routine engagements aimed at maintaining coordination between state institutions.

No further details were released regarding specific policy discussions during Monday’s meeting.
