Housing and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan on Monday said that 37 government residences have been prepared for members of the incoming cabinet ahead of the formation of the new government of Bangladesh.

Briefing journalists, Adilur stated that arrangements for the Prime Minister’s official residence would be made in consultation with the BNP and in line with the party’s preferences.

“The Prime Minister’s residence will be arranged according to the BNP’s choice,” he said, adding that discussions with the party would determine the final decision.

According to the adviser, the prepared residences for ministers and state ministers are located in Mintoo Road, Hair Road, Dhanmondi and Gulshan in the capital.

He noted that the necessary renovation and logistical preparations have already been completed to ensure readiness before the oath-taking ceremony.

Adilur further mentioned that additional residences are also being prepared in case more accommodation is required.

“If needed, a few more houses are being made ready and will be completed before the swearing-in,” he added.

Responding to questions about a recent report by Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) concerning corruption allegations, the adviser said such matters should be addressed directly to the organisation.

He remarked that public discourse and TIB’s findings do not always align.

He also suggested that perspectives from those who participated in the anti-fascism movement might present a different understanding of the situation.

The preparations are part of broader administrative steps being taken ahead of the new cabinet’s formation.
