Newly appointed Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, also member of parliament from Rajshahi Sadar, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah following his swearing-in as part of the new cabinet.

At the historic occasion, Minu paid homage to Bangladesh’s independence hero Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, praying for the salvation of their souls.

He also lauded Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, describing him as the embodiment of the people’s aspirations and hopes.

“Today’s appointment is the result of the prayers, love and unwavering support of the people of Rajshahi and the entire nation,” Minu said, urging party leaders, activists, and supporters to respect party directives.

He requested that no victory processions, colour celebrations, fireworks, or similar festivities be organised, warning that violations would be treated as attempts to destabilise the government.

Minu called on all party members and citizens to extend their cooperation for the overall development of the country and his home city.

“I pledge to work tirelessly to fulfil my ministerial responsibilities and to contribute to Rajshahi’s progress,” he said.

Residents of Rajshahi welcomed the appointment with joy, highlighting that it marks the first time in 47 years that the city’s constituency has produced a cabinet minister. Sweetmeats were distributed across neighbourhoods following the oath-taking ceremony.

Shariful Islam Jony, acting convener of the Rajshahi City unit of Jubo Dal, described Minu as “the architect of modern Rajshahi” who has devoted his life to the party. He extended gratitude to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on behalf of the people for ensuring Minu’s inclusion in the cabinet.
