Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman on Wednesday delivered a stern warning that anyone involved in corruption will face criminal prosecution alongside administrative action, emphasising that evasion of accountability will not be tolerated under the new government.
Speaking on his first working day at the Secretariat during an introductory meeting with officials of the two divisions under his ministry, the minister underscored the importance of integrity in public service and the judiciary.
“If anyone believes they can get away with corruption, that will not happen here,” he said firmly. “Those found guilty will face both administrative measures and legal action through corruption cases. This must be clearly understood by everyone.”
Addressing concerns over public perception of officials and judges, Asaduzzaman noted that integrity is fundamental to their roles.
“A judge, by definition, is expected to be honest. I do not want to see distinctions such as honest or dishonest judge,” he added, highlighting the critical responsibility of upholding public trust in the judiciary.
The minister also touched on financial concerns among government employees, stressing that those dissatisfied with their salaries should reconsider remaining in service.
“If someone believes their salary is insufficient, they do not need to stay in government service. They have the opportunity to practise law after retirement. This is my message to all,” he said.
Asaduzzaman’s remarks signal a zero-tolerance approach to corruption, reflecting the government’s broader commitment to transparency, accountability and restoring confidence in public institutions.
