The chiefs of the three services called on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday, underscoring high-level civil-military coordination on national security and state policy matters.
Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister at his Cabinet Division office in Dhaka on Thursday morning.
The meeting between the Prime Minister and the three services chiefs took place at the Cabinet Division office inside the Bangladesh Secretariat, the administrative nerve centre of the government. Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon confirmed the development.
Prime Minister’s Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) AKM Shamsul Islam was present during the meeting.
Earlier, on arrival at his Cabinet Division office, Tarique Rahman was received by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani and Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar, reflecting the formal protocol of the executive branch.
Although the Prime Minister’s Office did not disclose specific agenda items, courtesy calls by the chiefs of the three services typically involve discussions on national security preparedness, defence policy priorities, inter-service coordination and strategic planning. Such engagements are considered significant in maintaining institutional alignment between the armed forces and the civilian leadership.
The meeting comes amid ongoing policy focus on strengthening administrative efficiency, governance reforms and national security frameworks under the Prime Minister’s leadership.
