Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu has directed government officials to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, efficiency and a strong commitment to constitutional principles, warning that negligence in public service will not be tolerated.

He made the remarks on Friday while addressing a view-exchange meeting with divisional and district-level officials of Rajshahi Division at the Rajshahi Circuit House conference room.

Describing himself as a representative of the region, the minister said public officials are bound by constitutional duties and must carry them out properly, emphasising that the law applies equally to everyone. He stated that any violation of the law, regardless of personal connections, should be dealt with in accordance with legal procedures.

Minu stressed that administrative functions must be conducted on the basis of merit, competence and honesty. He urged officials to adopt a service-orientated approach in dealing with citizens, noting that people expect fairness, justice and efficient delivery of services from the administration.

With Ramadan approaching, the minister instructed authorities to take coordinated measures to prevent public inconvenience. He highlighted the importance of market monitoring, maintaining law and order and ensuring uninterrupted public services during the holy month. He also called for strict enforcement of a zero-tolerance policy against drugs.

Referring to the broader political context, the minister said the government would work to implement its development commitments in a coordinated manner and that all state institutions would continue to operate within the constitutional framework following the election period. He added that legal processes would proceed independently in accordance with the law.

Minu further emphasised development initiatives such as canal excavation and tree plantation programmes as part of efforts to accelerate regional progress.

The meeting was chaired by Divisional Commissioner ANM Bazlur Rashid and attended by senior civil and law enforcement officials, as well as political leaders from the region. Participants discussed field-level challenges and opportunities, expressing hope that enhanced coordination would strengthen transparency and accountability in administrative activities.

The minister’s remarks come amid ongoing efforts to reinforce governance standards and improve public confidence in state institutions.
