PM chairs meetings on religious harmony, education, employment

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday chaired two separate meetings at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in Tejgaon of the capital, focusing on strengthening religious and social harmony, and advancing reforms in education and employment.

According to a PMO media release, a meeting was held at the Cabinet Conference Room at noon to discuss ways to reinforce communal harmony and social cohesion across the country.

Ministers, state ministers and relevant senior officials attended the session, where participants reviewed ongoing initiatives and explored further steps to promote unity and stability.

On the same day, the Prime Minister chaired another meeting on establishing a cheerful and career-oriented education system, creating employment opportunities, and expanding sports infrastructure and training facilities.

The Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Saleh Shibli said the discussion centred on aligning education with market needs, enhancing skills development and generating jobs for the youth.

Ministers, state ministers and concerned senior officials were present at the meeting, which also examined measures to modernise training programmes and improve access to sports facilities nationwide.

Saturday marked the Prime Minister’s first working day at the PMO after assuming office.

Although it was a public holiday, he arrived at the office at 10:10am and was received by Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar and Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon.

The meetings underscored the government’s priorities of social harmony, youth empowerment and sustainable development.
