The by-elections to the Bogura-6 and Sherpur-3 parliamentary constituencies will be held on 9 April.
Election Commissioner Md Abdur Rahman Masud confirmed the date to the media on Tuesday.
He said that the detailed schedule would be formally announced later in the day.
The commission’s secretary is expected to disclose the full timetable and outline the necessary preparations on behalf of the Election Commission (EC).
According to officials, a fresh election schedule will be issued for a re-poll in Sherpur-3, while a by-election will be conducted in Bogura-6 to fill the vacant seat there. Preparations are underway to ensure the smooth conduct of voting in both constituencies.
The EC is also considering special voting arrangements to enhance participation.
Authorities are examining the possibility of allowing expatriate voters, as well as government officials and polling personnel deployed inside the country, to cast their ballots through postal voting in these two constituencies.
In Sherpur-3, a referendum will be held alongside the parliamentary re-poll, making the electoral process in the constituency distinct from a routine by-election.
Officials said necessary logistical and administrative steps are being coordinated to manage both the parliamentary vote and the referendum efficiently.
The announcement of the election date is expected to intensify political activities in the two constituencies as parties prepare their candidates and campaign strategies ahead of the 9 April polls.
