Land Minister Md Mizanur Rahman Minu has emphasised the need to ensure transparency and accountability in land-related services to rebuild public trust and eliminate complaints about corruption and inefficiency.

He made the remarks while visiting the Citizen Care Centre and the ministry’s call centre (16122) at Bhumi Bhaban in Tejgaon of the capital on Tuesday.

State Minister for Land Barrister Kayser Kamal accompanied him during the inspection.

The minister directed officials to expand and strengthen the services of both the Citizen Care Centre and the call centre so that at least 2,000 people can receive assistance daily, compared to the current capacity of around 200 to 300 users.

He stressed that wider publicity is needed for the call centre so that marginalised and rural citizens are aware of the services available to them and are not deprived of access to land support facilities.

Minu warned that strict action would be taken if complaints of bribery or corruption are found within the system. He expressed optimism that noticeable improvements in land service delivery would be achieved within the next six months.

State Minister Kayser Kamal reiterated a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, acknowledging that the land ministry had previously faced criticism over transparency issues.

He said the ministry would consult stakeholders to reduce delays in resolving land disputes and consider introducing Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms to expedite case settlement with fixed timeframes.

Senior officials from various departments under the ministry were also present during the visit.
