Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam has instructed authorities to strengthen cleanliness standards at all airports across Bangladesh to ensure passenger comfort, safety and improved service quality.

She issued the directives at the ADP implementation progress review meeting for January of the 2025-26 fiscal year held at the ministry’s conference room on Tuesday, according to a press release.

Emphasising passenger convenience, the minister asked officials to maintain strict hygiene measures on airport premises and take immediate action to spray mosquito repellent in and around airport facilities to prevent health risks.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat highlighted operational challenges at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, particularly the shortage of passenger trolleys.

He said the issue should be resolved without delay and urged authorities to procure 1,000 new trolleys as soon as possible to improve passenger handling capacity.

He stressed that all stakeholders must coordinate effectively to prevent harassment of passengers and ensure smooth travel experiences.

Both ministers also directed officials to complete ongoing development projects within the designated timeframe to avoid delays and cost overruns.

Senior officials, including the ministry’s Secretary Nasreen Jahan and Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmud Siddique, attended the meeting along with other key personnel.
