A Dhaka court has ordered an Interpol Red Notice against Tulip Siddiq in connection with a Gulshan flat corruption case, marking a significant development in the Anti-Corruption Commission’s ongoing investigation into alleged abuse of political authority. The order was issued in Dhaka, underscoring the judiciary’s role in addressing high-profile corruption allegations linked to urban property regulation.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz on Thursday allowed a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) seeking issuance of a Red Notice through Interpol to facilitate the arrest of Tulip Siddiq, niece of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina. The case centres on allegations that Tulip Siddiq illegally obtained a flat from a private developer in the capital’s Gulshan-2 area.

The same court on 18 February 2026 issued arrest warrants against Tulip Siddiq and Sardar Mosharraf Hossain, former assistant legal adviser of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK), in the case. RAJUK is the statutory authority responsible for urban planning and real estate regulation in Dhaka, giving the case wider implications for governance and regulatory oversight in the property sector.

In its latest petition, the ACC informed the court that the accused had left the country before the case was filed and was allegedly attempting to destroy evidence relevant to the prosecution. The anti-graft body stated that as Tulip Siddiq is currently abroad, the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice is necessary to ensure her arrest and return to Bangladesh for legal proceedings.

The court’s directive signals a tightening of enforcement measures in corruption cases involving politically exposed persons, particularly those connected to public land use, urban development approvals and regulatory institutions.
