Prime Minister Tarique Rahman met and exchanged greetings with children following Friday congregational prayers at a mosque in the capital, according to officials.
The Prime Minister offered Jumu’ah prayers at the Naval Headquarters mosque before briefly interacting with children gathered outside the premises, his press secretary Saleh Shibly said.
Witnesses said Rahman greeted the youngsters and spoke to them in a relaxed setting after the prayers concluded. The interaction took place as worshippers were dispersing from the mosque compound.
Following the exchange, the prime minister left the area and travelled to Gulshan, officials added. No further details were immediately provided regarding his schedule.
Public appearances by political leaders at religious gatherings are common in Bangladesh, particularly during Friday prayers, which hold special significance for Muslims. Such interactions often draw attention as part of leaders’ broader public engagement activities.
