Biman Bangladesh Airlines has temporarily suspended all flights to the Middle East due to escalating conflict and airspace closures in several Gulf countries.
The airline confirmed that flights to the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain have been put on hold as security concerns increase in the region.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines General Manager (Public Relations) Bushra Islam said the decision was taken to ensure the safety of passengers and crew members.
“All Middle Eastern flights are put on hold due to ongoing attacks in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain,” she said.
The suspension comes as missile and drone exchanges linked to tensions between Iran, Israel and the United States have led several Gulf countries to close or restrict their airspace. Many international airlines have also cancelled or rerouted flights as a precaution.
Biman operates regular flights to key Gulf destinations, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Kuwait City and Bahrain. These routes are especially important for Bangladesh because a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates live and work in the Middle East. The region is also a major source of remittance income for the country.
Aviation experts warn that continued airspace restrictions could disrupt passenger travel, cargo movement and regional connectivity. The Gulf serves as a major transit hub connecting South Asia with Europe and North America.
Bushra Islam said the airline is closely monitoring official aviation advisories and international developments. Flights will resume once the security situation improves.
Passengers have been advised to stay in contact with Biman’s call centre and sales offices for the latest updates and rebooking information.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh is also monitoring international flight corridors that pass through Gulf airspace. Aviation authorities typically adjust routes during conflict situations to reduce risks to civilian aircraft.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has not announced when flights will resume but said further updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
