Bangladesh has expressed deep concern over the safety and security of Bangladeshi nationals living in the Middle East following the recent escalation of attacks involving Iran and other regional actors.
In a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government warned that continued hostilities could seriously threaten regional peace, stability and the wellbeing of civilian populations, including thousands of Bangladeshis working and residing in affected countries.
The statement urged all concerned parties to exercise maximum restraint and to return to diplomatic engagement as the primary means of resolving disputes.
Bangladesh emphasised that dialogue and negotiation remain the most viable path toward de-escalation and long-term stability in the region.
The ministry also expressed concern over reported violations of sovereignty affecting several countries in the region, including Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. It underscored the importance of respecting international law and territorial integrity to prevent further escalation of tensions.
At the same time, authorities assured that the government is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with its diplomatic missions to ensure the protection and welfare of Bangladeshi expatriates.
Embassies and consulates have been instructed to remain vigilant and provide necessary support to citizens if required.
The foreign ministry expressed hope that calm would prevail soon and that peace, security and stability would be restored across the region at the earliest possible time.
