State Minister for Land Kayser Kamal on Wednesday issued a stern warning against negligence and irregularities in public offices after conducting an unannounced visit to the Siddhirganj Land Office in Narayanganj.

The minister arrived at the office shortly before 9am, without prior notification, only to find the premises locked even though official working hours had already begun. He waited outside for nearly half an hour before an employee arrived to open the office. During his inspection, Kamal observed that several officials and staff members reported to duty well past the scheduled time.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the situation, the state minister told reporters that the government would not tolerate laxity or corruption in service delivery.

He reiterated that ensuring transparency and accountability in land administration remains a priority.

“There have been numerous complaints about delays and irregular practices in land offices. We are committed to addressing these issues firmly and in line with government regulations,” he said.

Kayser Kamal noted that, under the directives of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the land ministry has intensified monitoring efforts to improve public services.

He pointed out that many citizens remain unaware of official service timelines, creating opportunities for middlemen and misconduct.

The minister assured that, findings from the visit would be reviewed in detail and that corrective steps would be taken where necessary.

He also announced that similar surprise inspections would be carried out nationwide to ensure discipline, efficiency and better service for the public.
