Bangladesh and India have reiterated their commitment to further strengthening their longstanding bilateral relations, expressing optimism about expanding cooperation in a range of areas of mutual interest.
The issue was discussed on Thursday when Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir held a meeting with Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Kumar Verma in Dhaka.
According to an official press release, the Indian envoy paid a courtesy call on the adviser at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon.
The meeting focused on the current state of relations between the two neighbouring countries and the prospects for enhancing cooperation in the future.
During the discussions, both sides reviewed the close and friendly ties that have developed between Bangladesh and India over the years.
They highlighted the historical connections and shared experiences that have shaped the relationship, emphasising the importance of maintaining a strong partnership for the benefit of the two nations.
The talks also covered a number of key areas, including regional stability, trade and investment, connectivity initiatives and development cooperation. Both sides acknowledged that continued collaboration in these sectors could further strengthen economic growth and regional integration.
Humayun Kabir and Pranay Kumar Verma also exchanged views on ways to deepen people-to-people contacts and promote cooperation that directly contributes to the welfare and prosperity of the citizens of both countries.
They reaffirmed their intention to work together on the basis of mutual respect, trust and understanding while pursuing common interests in the region.
The meeting concluded in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, with both sides expressing confidence that Bangladesh-India relations will continue to grow stronger in the coming years.
